Krishna stole butter from the houses of Vrindavan and shared it with the monkeys. When mother Yashoda finally caught him and tried to tie him to a grinding mortar, the rope was always two fingers short, however much she added — until she gave up, and only then did he allow himself to be bound. That is the Damodara pastime, celebrated every year in the month of Kartik: God, who no one can bind, letting love bind him.
The scenes in this collection are among the warmest in the shop: Krishna with the butter pot, Gopal feeding yoghurt to the monkeys, Yashoda with the rope, and the Damodara lila in several treatments. Products include t-shirts and hoodies for adults and children, canvas wall art and framed posters, wall tapestries, tote bags, japa bags, jigsaw puzzles, journals, school backpacks, stickers and pin badges.
