When the demon king Hiranyakashipu demanded to know where God was hiding, his five-year-old son Prahlada answered that he is everywhere, even in a pillar. The pillar split, and Narasimhadev came out of it: neither man nor beast, at twilight which is neither day nor night, killing on the threshold which is neither inside nor out. Every clause of the king’s boon of immortality was honoured, and none of it saved him. Then the Lord who could not be calmed by any demigod sat down peacefully with Prahlada on his lap.
Narasimhadev is the protector of devotees, and his prayers close every arati in every ISKCON temple. The pastime appears many times — the appearance from the pillar, the Narasimha mandala, Narasimhadev with Prahlada, and the Nrisimhadev Comics series in colour and black-and-white. The collection covers t-shirts, hoodies, kids’ clothing, canvas and framed prints, wall tapestries, puzzles, japa bags, soft dolls, stickers, pin badges and more.
