Sankirtana & Harinama

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took the chanting of the holy name out of the temples and into the streets of Navadvipa, and five hundred years later devotees still do exactly that in London, New York, Moscow and Tel Aviv. Sankirtana is the congregational chant; harinama is the chanting party moving through a city; and around them is a whole culture of mridanga drums, karatala cymbals, chaddars, book distribution and dancing in public with no embarrassment at all.

This is the most joyful corner of the shop: sankirtana parties in the city, a Vaishnavi leading a kirtan, harinama on roller skates, the New York subway scene, book distributors at work, and single drums and cymbals drawn as line art. The collection covers t-shirts and hoodies, canvas wall art and framed posters, japa bags, tote and weekender bags, backpacks, puzzles, stickers, pin badges and journals.
