In 1965 A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, sixty-nine years old, boarded the cargo ship Jaladuta in Calcutta with a trunk of books and forty rupees, survived two heart attacks at sea, and arrived in New York with no money and no contacts. He began chanting under a tree in Tompkins Square Park. Within twelve years there were temples on every continent. Devotees do not put his picture on things out of sentiment; he is the reason the tradition reached them.
He appears several times: the well-known portrait in fine graphite, the yellow-washed bhajan study, Prabhupada chanting japa, the Jaladuta voyage, and a hand-lettered Hare Krishna piece built around his face. This collection covers t-shirts and tie-dye tees, hoodies for adults and children, canvas wall art and framed posters, journals, tote and weekender bags, backpacks, japa bags, Christmas ornaments, puzzles, phone cases, stickers and pin badges.
