The Pancha Tattva are the five features of God who appeared together in Navadvipa — Chaitanya, Nityananda, Advaita, Gadadhara and Srivasa — and their mantra is chanted before the maha-mantra in every kirtan, because approaching the holy name through them removes the offences that would otherwise block it.
